Charlie and Hilde, off the grid bakery

Posted in Uncategorized by jeffballphoto on January 10, 2011

Together, Charlie and Hilde Muller own and run Laughing Tree Brick Oven Bakery, an off the grid all organic bakery on their property near Hart, MI. They have two young children, Finn, 4, and Annie, 2. The family lives in an eco-friendly, solar powered home and they lead their lives in an environmentally friendly way. There is a garden and chicken coup on the property that supply much of the family’s food year round. Their business has been up and running for about 10 months providing artisan bread and pastries to farmers markets and health food stores throughout Oceana and Muskegon Counties.

Fall has been beautiful here in Western Michigan, the trees are changing and the streets are covered in leaves. It rains early most mornings and there are puddles in most of the roads. It hasn’t started to get cold yet but you can feel it in the air and smell it when you walk through the park. The dampness of stormy weather and dead leaves. People are staying inside in the evening when they get home from work and the neighborhoods smell like smoking wood stoves.
